Chris Matthews:
Political Enigma
Chris Mathews, host of MSNBCs
“Hardball” gets criticized from all sides.
The former employee of Ed Muskie, Tip O’Neil and Jimmy Carter
has taken a pounding from my-way-or-the-highway liberals since he’s
shown his moderate streak in public.
Matthews has the audacity to admit he
voted for George W. Bush in 2000.
The fact that he seems to regret it makes little difference to
the left wing hard-liners. He's
also said many times that he thought Bush seemed worthy of our
reverence when he stood on the heap at ground zero and made his fist
shaking threats to the terrorists. He is only reflecting the general mood of the American
populous. Bush polled
over 90% soon after this brilliantly managed photo op.
"Hardball" is one of my
favorite TV programs. I feel that he tells it as he sees it and, to me, the fact
that he often sees it differently than I do makes him that much more
interesting. This stern
liberal reaction to any hint of moderation is unbecoming.
It is the right-wingers that force people to jump over issue
hurdles before they accept them as a true conservative.
I think when the left refuses to accept him even after he’s
pointed out the lies of Bush and Cheney and taken Michelle Malkin to
task for her BS about John Kerry's war wounds is self defeating.
I
remind all the liberals out there that we are the open-minded side.
Leave the hard-line to the hard right. |
