Tim
Bulldog Russert
This
drawing is an attempt to share a mental picture that I just can't
shake.
Recently,
I walked past a television and heard one male voice ask, "So
what's wrong with Tim Russert?"
Another male voice answered, "Every time I see him, he
looks more like a bulldog."
I
didn't think much about it at the time, but since then I have this
image of Russert that I can't get out of my head.
This mental hitch makes me well aware of just how often Russert
is on my television.
Tim
Russert is Managing Editor and Moderator of "Meet the Press"
and political analyst for "NBC Nightly News" and the
"Today Program." He
anchors "The Tim Russert Show," a weekly program on CNBC and
is a contributing anchor for MSNBC.
On top of all that, Russert also serves as senior vice
president and Washington bureau chief of NBC News.
Can
he get all that on a business card?
I
know Russert gets plenty of criticism, but I'm a fan.
He will often ask tough questions but then let the subject off
with an obvious lie as their answer.
This still puts him ahead of most of the Washington
'journalist' who have long since given up asking tough questions.
The
Bulldog look results from his round, jowly face and the way he leans into
his interview subjects. He's
a friendly Bulldog, though. Tim
Russert is always smiling and his little nub of a tail is wagging
frantically. Out of
respect for Mr. Russert, I used a champion Bulldog as the model for
his body in this drawing. |
